the sketchbook project

I participated in the 2011 Sketchbook Project. I almost DIDN'T, as I am a SUPER procrastinator (and am also pretty busy from a full time job and marathon training) and even though I've had my sketchbook for 6 months, I didn't start on it until 5 days before it was due. OOPS. It probably could have come out a million times better, but at least it was a good exercise and I managed to get it 'finished' before I had to mail it out last Tuesday. My theme was 'make mine a double', and I ended up taking it in the most literal sense and drew objects and phrases that include the word 'double'. I drew all the pictures with (my favorite) micron pens, and ended up re-binding the book to include vellum sheets in between every other spread. These are a few pages from my book... if you want to see the rest you will have to catch it on tour somewhere with the other 28,000 sketchbooks, or check it out of the Brooklyn Art Library after the tour, where it will live (forever?). Ha. There are so many AMAZING books, you can view a lot more online here, SO MANY artists participated and inspire me to try again next year (and maybe spend more than a week on it)!

The Art House Co-Op sponsors and puts on these projects. If you feel like getting creative, they have another fun project going right now, called A Million Little Pictures. I think I might sign up!
