An amazing postcard find from San Sebastian, Spain - and so appropriate because everyday while we were there we ate runny egg hamburgers from this little restaurant in Parte Vieja (I can't remember the name), around the corner from our pensione. Literally - every day, for four days straight. So good, such a fun memory, I want to go back.

The Paris Flea Market

One of my most favorite things I did during my recent trip to France was exploring the Paris Flea Market (Les Puces de Saint-Ouen Market). I had read about it on one of my favorite blogs and found directions here. We woke up early one Saturday morning and made our way here - the flea market is one of the biggest in the world, and you have to walk through tons of tents full of purses and jeans and shoes (mostly knock-offs) to get to the good stuff. The antique market portion was AHH-mazing, I wanted to bring everything home with me, but clearly couldn't fit most of these treasures in my suitcase so I had to settle for snapping photos of some of my favorites. However I did come home with a few old keys, a couple of old apartment address plates and a little brass owl - some of which became Christmas gifts. If you ever go to Paris and love flea markets, you HAVE to go here. I'm obsessed and already want to go back!

My Missoni

Ok - I'll admit it: I was one of those crazy girls who lined up outside of Target before it opened to get first dibs of the new Missoni collection. I am so devastated that this amazing blanket ended up not even getting shipped to my Target, so even though I was the first one to the blanket aisle, I ran upstairs to find that the shelves were completely empty (they were expecting it, but the shipment never came in!!). HEART. BROKEN. I had promised myself that this blanket was the ONLY THING I would buy, but once I realized it just wasn't meant to be, I had to get SOMETHING else to fill the Missoni void. Since I was there before the crowds, or rather part of the group of 15 crazy girls who were filling their carts with anything and everything Missoni in sight, I basically had my pick of everything and ended up with three amazing glass bowls that stack inside of each other. The middle black & white bowl was the perfect thing to add to my shelves I am trying to fill in my kitchen. I also scored an amazing glass serving platter - both of which I will probably have forever. Conclusion : good purchase, and I'm glad I made the trek to Target so early in the morning - definitely worth it! I keep checking back at Target hoping someone will magically return the blanket right as I am walking into the store, but that mostly likely wont happen, and I am definitely NOT paying $200 for it on eBay... sighhhh.

Long Beach Antique Market

I SCORED at the Long Beach Antique market today! I went with my friend Lauren, and we both left with so many amazing things we had set out to find. The first being big, beautiful, graphic letters. I found this great big 'B' (she got an S) as well as this great little 'R'. I've also been wanting a huge piece of coral to paint a nice pop color, and for $4 this thing was a steal! I also got this great brown leather over-the-shoulder bag for my upcoming trip to Europe! It's perfect - it will fit a book AND my camera and all the necessities! Also found a vintage postcard of Yosemite, a vintage glass ball floater, and this cute little white owl. There is nothing like the feeling of hunting for the perfect thing, and then FINDING IT! We both left very happy girls!

Another great thing about Portland is all of the type & neon signs hanging off every corner of practically every building. My pictures can't possibly do it justice, but if you are a designer, you will love this city just for it's unique typography!

One of my favorite things about Portland are the food carts that line the streets every couple of blocks, serving just about every type of food you can possibly think of. Of course I had to try the bean and cheese burritos, and they definitely hit the spot. I have only been to Portland in the pouring rain, so I didn't get to see much the first time. Getting to explore it in the middle of summer this last week was amazing. We ate at so many delicious restaurants (I don't think I ate one thing that I didn't absolutely love), sampled many local beers at the Portland beerfest and several local breweries, explored the streets of downtown, hiked through the forest, and went on some early morning runs on the other side of the river. I have to say, I am IN LOVE with this city.

This is what I call the 'Hurley Boardshort Wall'... it is a wall next to Hobie Surf Shop along PCH, across the street from my house, that they paint every couple months with Hurley's latest featured boardshort pattern (like THIS ONE). I love watching their process of making the wall come alive, and love seeing how they can turn a boardshort print into a huge wall mural that they paint by hand.

El Ranchito in CDM has been my favorite restaurant for the past 3 years... Nothing makes me happier than having a bean and cheese burrito (wet), with a margarita, at this place. This has been one of my favorite places to re-fuel after many long marathons and marathon training runs.

After three years of wanting to try this restaurant, Bandera, and living right next door to it, I FINALLY got to go last weekend, when my dad treated my sister and I. It definitely lived up to the hype and the line I always see outside the door when I run by. I had the BEST glass of wine (the most amazing cab I think I may have ever had), mouth watering grilled artichoke for an appetizer, delicious grilled chicken salad with toasted almonds, dates and goat cheese. All of course followed by oreo ice cream cake. I DEFINITELY recommend this place. I will be making trips back to Corona Del Mar just to eat here...
